I generally receive requests for wedding having minimum number of guests were 50-60. This time it was only 2, The Bride (Sonia) and the Groom (Charles)!
Here is the story.
I always invest on time with couples before photo sessions. When I met them first at The House Hotel Bosphorus in Ortakoy Istanbul, I could see the shine full of excitement in their eyes. They were two American Soldiers, met in Afghanistan and decided to get married in Istanbul.
After some little chat, I felt like they were so excited that they could not beleive they are getting married. The wedding ceremony, the wedding reception, the preps. etc. they did not care about. As always , Photography was the most important part! And they had a special reason for that, because, including the family members; they had no guests, no witnesses, no friends no relatives…Just 2.
Then I said “OK, let’s go out and shoot some pre-wedding photos right by Bosphorus” Because their hotel The House Hotel was just by the water. And one of the most amazing hotels around the town. Once, Kevin Spacey had his rehersal of the play on it’s balcony facing the lovely Istanbul city.
By the way, when I photograph this wedding back in 2011; this was the first ever wedding held in The House Hotel Bosphorus in Ortakoy Istanbul, and I became the first ever wedding photographer As a special offer, they let us go up to the penthouse suit room and use the balcony for the wedding photos.
When it comes to Natural looking wedding photos, communication with the couple is VERY Important, especially when it comes to an English speaking couple getting married in Turkey. Who do you think make them smile naturally in the photos? 😉
And they lived happily ever after!
Sonia is a great follower of my facebook page, and she likes every single photo I posted:)
She sent me a client letter afterwards, that the photos were the only things they could show the families and friends back from their wedding day in House Hotel Ortakoy, and Istanbul. One of my photos, were also published in one of the local newspapers How Lucky I am
